The db file scattered read wait event indicates that full table scans (or index fast full scans) are occurring in the database. The initialization parameter DB_FILE_MULTIBLOCK_READ_COUNT sets the number of blocks read at one time by Oracle. The database will automatically tune this parameter if you don t set any value for it in your parameter file. Although Oracle reads data in multiblock chunks, it scatters the data into noncontiguous cache buffers.
